Hello hello, Sparkler Fans!
This is it–the final week of our Year 5 Kickstarter, and to be honest, it’s going to be a nail-biter…
We’ve got cool plans for Year 5, and we’re really excited about our expanded line-up, but we can’t continue without your help! We pay all our creators for their pages that run in the magazine, and the additional costs of staffing, servers, and maintenance do add up. If you haven’t had the chance to check out our Kickstarter yet, it’s not too late! If you’ve already donated, please consider sharing with like-minded friends who love comics, light novels, games, and the Female Gaze. <3 We’ve still got some great rewards tiers available, from ebooks and paperbacks, to being able to read all 5 years of Sparkler in magazine form, to amazing commissions from some of our favorite creative partners. You won’t want to miss out!
And this final issue of our Summer of Sparkler promotion is another great one, in our humble opinion. We have the long-awaited and exciting start of Windrose Vol. 3–with daring escapes, and even more daring rescues! Welcome back, Windrose! :-D Plus, don’t forget to check out the Windrose Volume 2 ebook, which is now available! We also have new updates for Heart of Gold, Uncanny Valley High, Sunshine Boy, Decoy and Retrofit, Firebird, and…
We’re proud to welcome yet another new addition to the magazine: straight from the submissions pile and onto this month’s cover, the first installment of the drama-romance-sports comic “Null Point” from creator Amara Sherm! We’ve been dying to do a character-driven sports story for ages, and this one hits all the right buttons with a mighty backhand! Check it out. :-D
XOXO,
The Sparkler Team
Monday reblog! Just over a day left on the Kickstarter! We’re getting so close!!

tinkdw answered:
I think he’s awkward and shy and un self deserving when it comes to emotional nice things for himself so he holds back, especially with Cas.
If he DID have a photo it’s a standard ID photo for his badge. I hope/headcanon that during his grieving he will have kept what was inside Cas’ inside pocket: the mixtape, a note from Claire and his FBI badge. So he will take these out and look at these things and what hey represent: the photo (Cas himself), the mixtape (Dean’s love), the note (forgiveness and Cas’ humanity / falling) …
Or if he DOES have an actual photo, it’s a kind of awkward one of Cas and Sam or maybe even one of the three of them on timer that Dean took one day just telling Cas “ok man now you’re here just go stand over near Sam, yes, there, now guys smile - yes, Sam, just, I want a photo of you guys ok? Youre my family and I want a photo so just - just freaking smile and do it ok?!” And of course Sam smiles widely, Cas sweetly but a little confused and Dean has an awkward pained half grimace on his face because he still doesn’t feel quite like he deserves this, that it’s ok to WANT this… not yet.
But really, just to add to all the awful “what if” and “the one that got away” tropes of their story, it kinda fits that might not have ever done this and he doesn’t really have anything concrete to visually remind him of Cas ergo keeping the coat in s7… all he probably has now is his coat, his badge and the tape.
Either way they can and I’m sure WILL make it as painful as possible :p
Dean also has the endverse photo… (we saw it in 12x02, right?)
August is ending. Which means ~Halloween~ is just around the corner!
Orders are now open for this year’s batch of Scaredy Cat books. The first five orders will receive a free vinyl sticker with their order. These kittens are wind, water, and sunproof!

Yellow Hearts is gorgeous, and we’re so happy that Keezy is joining our line-up!
Found family in a fantasy world
Three kids make an ill-advised (but well-intentioned) deal with a demon in the woods one day. Twenty years later, Levi, Rowan, and Alder meet again to find out their past has caught up to them. But a lot changes in twenty years, and they aren’t as innocent as they used to be.
In the vein of Nimona and Dragon Age, this character-driven comic by Keezy Young is a queer, modern take on the fantastical. Prepare for an adventure with your new found family.
ABOUT THE CREATOR:
Keezy Young is a comic artist from the Pacific Northwest. She writes and draws fantasy and scifi comics focusing on queer characters and experiences. You can find her work at keezyyoung.com, and she’s also on:
